honey

Enjoying a daily teaspoon of unprocessed honey can reduce hay fever symptoms by 75 to 90 percent, reports John Heinerman, Ph.D., director of the Medical Reserch Center in Salt Lake City. “Raw honey contains a rich supply of enzymes that lower body’s output of the antibodies that initiate reactions to ragweed,” he explains. Sence most brands of honey sold in supermarkets are treated with heat – a process that prevents granulation but kills active enzymes – Heinerman advises checking health-food stores or farmers’ markets for honey that’s labeled “raw” or “unpasteurized”.
